Receive requests for Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services, dispatches public safety units, operate various tele-communications equipment, prepares reports, maintain files. This employee must be available to work any shift, holidays and weekends as needed for scheduling purposes and performs other assigned duties as required. Prepares reports, maintain files. Develop skills to answer multi-line telephone including 911 lines. Develop skills to communicate with hearing/speech impaired citizens by operating specialized teletype system. Communicate effectively, courteously, and clearly in English, verbally and in writing, includes speaking, responding promptly, hearing in the normal range, to protect the safety of officers and the work any shifts, holidays, and weekends as needed for scheduling purposes and perform other assigned duties as requires. Must have a valid drivers’ license, pass a drug and alcohol test and back ground check. High School diploma or GED is required.

Requires a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning or Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Government or related field. Five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible planning experience (including managerial) required. Have specialized knowledge in theory, principles and practice of urban planning techniques and methods in order to organize, develop and coordinate activities of a complicated, diversified or highly technical nature. Certification by the American Institute of Certified AICP preferred. This position is responsible for the administration and supervision of the Planning and Code Enforcement Division. Formulates and implements department policies, recommends and implements community development policies and programs for the city. Proposes, establishes, interprets, and enforces ordinances and regulations affecting land use and urban development. Perform other appropriate duties or special assignments as required. Other requirements are drug and alcohol test and a back ground check. Salary commensurate with qualifications; will accept applications until position is filled.
